Narcisse-Cereals

The characterization of paleo-duplications in five species belonging to three of the agronomically most important subfamilies of grasses permitted us to propose a model for an ancestral genome.

This web tool Narcisse-Cereals based on the Genome browser Narcisse, is a user-friendly online web site that allows to visualize the 11,737 orthologs (synteny relationships) as well as the 4,382 paralogs (duplications relationships) characterized in five species belonging to three of the agronomically most important subfamilies of grasses, /i.e./ /Ehrhartoideae/ (rice) /Panicoideae/ (sorghum, maize), /Pooideae /(wheat, barley). With this tool, it is possible to gain access to the raw data (gene name, sequence, position, and alignment criteria) obtained from the analysis of the synteny and duplication of the rice, maize, sorghum, wheat, and barley genomes. The tool description has been published in: Reconstruction of monocotelydoneous proto-chromosomes reveals faster evolution in plants than in animals (PNAS 2009).
